I didn’t spend my whole vacation at camp- for part of it I was at our humble abode in Camillus. In the span of 10 days I somehow made three trips to JoAnn Fabrics. I was working on a t-shirt quilt for the GS- my mom said it was her favorite that I’ve made so far! This is high praise.
Now I’ve decided that I’m going to start making clothes. I’ll let you know how that plays out.
I also watched an absurd amount of Scandal, because everyone tells me how great it is and I felt left out. Kerry Washington is, needless to say, my newest girl crush. Thanks to free trials of Netflix and Hulu Plus. Who is the mole?! I have like 10 episodes left.
I read three books on my Aunt Pat’s Kindle. She’s a librarian and lets me borrow one of the library Kindles whenever I come home during the summer. I highly recommend Wreath by Judy Christie.
Clearly my highlight of being home is always hanging out with Kevin. I spoil him rotten and will take some of the credit for the nightmare of a teenager he might become. I went to bake cookies one night- these are his favorite- but we didn’t have any chocolate chips! HOW can you make cookies without chocolate chips.
I improvised. And sweetened the deal, quite literally, by adding ice cream.
Oatmeal Toffee Cookie Wiches
1 stick butter or margarine
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
2 tsp vanilla
3/4 cup plus 2 tbs all purpose flour
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 cups rolled or instant oats
1/2-3/4 cups Heath bits
Cream butter and brown sugar, then add eggs and vanilla. Combine dry ingredients in a separate bowl, then add in increments. Fold in Heath bits. Bake at 375 for about 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden.
Allow cookies to cool slightly, then wedge a big scoop of vanilla ice cream in between two.
Chocolate who?
